Recently China Southern Airlines, one of China’s largest carriers, announced a codeshare cooperation with Qatar Airways. Passengers have been able to purchase code-sharing flights between Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Doha Hamad International Airport since December 24th.
These new codeshare flights will enable China Southern Airlines’ passengers to book travel on Qatar Airways’ flights between Guangzhou and Doha and onwards to more than 60 destinations in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. While China Southern offers direct service from its Guangzhou hub to Nairobi (Kenya) and some of?the largest European cities, this codeshare leverages connections with Qatar Airways and the carrier’s Doha hub to allow for many more destinations on a single itinerary.
According to the Airlines, code-sharing cooperation will expand to flights between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Doha Hamad International Airports.
Codeshare is a business arrangement in which two or more airlines publish and market a flight under their own airline designator and flight number as part of their published timetable or schedule. The flight is operated by a single airline, but flight tickets are sold by all cooperating airlines using their own designator and flight number.
Code-share cooperation can provide passengers of each airlines more choices of flights and destinations at cheaper prices. Also they can enjoy better transfer services, including checking luggage through to the final destination.
